:CE: Poppies In Flanders Field

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

This is my CE for ! IT'S FINALLY FINISHED!!
I hope you all like it; this KILLED my hand. I have a bruise on my thumb now.

_{As much as I like long deadlines, I kept forgetting to get this done, or I kept putting it off. I am SO SO glad *Shiranova extended the contest deadline all those times. It was meant to end on Nov 5 last deadline, and I just remembered about the contest on the 6th or so. So I checked and was so relieved to find that it had once again been extended to Nov 12. That made me think of Rememberance Day, which led to this.}

I was just outlining, and decided to colour the red poppy petals so I wouldn't lose sight of them/miss them when everything was outlined later. I thought the result was pretty cool, so I coloured all the poppies and the "lyrics" later. 
I coloured the golden soul birds too~ I like the glow effect I managed to do~ ;w;

It looked like something in an anime opening or something. Too bad the entry HAS to be coloured. I wouldn't mind leaving it like it was. xD
Still, I AM very happy with the result! I don't fully like the sky though, but oh well. I used four layers of colours.

The soul birds were meant to resemble doves, the birds of peace. But I guess you could also see them as larks, as the poem mentions: "The larks, still bravely singing, fly; Scarce heard amid the guns below." Or you could just think of them as...well, birds. Because who knows what kind of bird a soul bird should be? xD



_{I also kinda realized that because these two live in a "fantasy-like world with Victorian-era-like things", they might not know about Flanders Field. But oh well...let's just say they are in a graveyard from a war of THEIR time and place. After all, I think it's pretty likely for worlds to get into war.}

Anyway, I chose this idea because it's almost Rememberance Day over here. ;w;
